i am coming at this frm the viewpoint of a regular person, who understands that resources are always limited, hence the existence of budgets. to this person, everything has a cost including time spent building things
u wld not want to design a custom spoon if u are him

they don't just buy stuff. stuff has a cost and a value which heavily affects the meaning of what they buy, including design considerations
can't afford a 100 dollar custom spoon, they tell themselves, a spoon is just a spoon
