Huge area at park specially for dogs, but what about my poor cat?

STOMPer Cat Lover is appalled that West Coast Park has a designated area specially for dogs, but none for cats.

In an email to STOMP today (Jul 17), the STOMPer says:

“Last week when I brought my cat (safely leashed) for a walk at West Coast Park, I was surprised to see this signboard near the entrance of the so-called Dog Run Corner.

“This open field, fenced at the perimeter is about the size of two football fields. It is located at the junction of Harbour Dr and Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre.

“I felt that I was discriminated against just because I own a cat and not a dog.

“The Dog Run Corner is a sprawling field with footpaths and rain shelters and even tall trees to provide shade for the owners and their four-footed friends.

“This field has double gates to ensure that the ferocious dogs when unleashed would not run out to chase or bite passers-by.

“I saw on a notice board a whole set of rules for dog owners and it read like those parliamentary reports and statutes.

“Most pet shops and supermarts sell both dog and cat food and biscuits but NParks has chosen to give priority to dogs for reasons which I have yet to fathom.”

I have found ours, and I must say I have become very fond of her (him?) in the short time I've come to know her. Is she for real?
