Some thoughts on my build:

I'm going to go with XT dual control shifter/levers, paired with an XTR shadow top normal rear derailleur. Need to find out if that's possible. The websites say "Shadow mech will only be available as a top-normal configuration "designed to work best with Rapidfire Plus shifters". Why? What's the difference?

I'll be going with an 2008 XT wheelset too:

"The wheels have been supplied with aggressive rim stickers, red spoke nipples and a red colored Center Lock rotor mount ring to create a wheel set that excels not only in performance but also in design." unless I can find enough budget for a good priced custom handbuilt wheelset.

And a Fox Float RLC. Still pondering the TALAS, key question is whether I'll be adjusting my travel all that much. I never did with my Tora but now that I have a bike that can handle drops, I might wanna pull it out occasionally for big drops.
